Steel Plows

The Backbone of Canton Industry

Steel plows were first designed and forged by William Parlin, circa 1842. Parlin and Orendorff managed a successful manufacturing and sales business; the P & O Plow Works was purchased by International Harvester in 1919 and continued producing state-of-the-art farm implements until “the shop” closed its doors in 1983. At its peak, International Harvester, Canton Plant, employed over 2000 men and women.
